The Discomfort of Rosacea

People who live with rosacea know that it can be extremely uncomfortable sometimes. The itchy, burning sensation of the skin is far from pleasant. However, that is one of the downfalls of battling rosacea. Men and women both suffer from this skin condition, though it is far more likely to occur in women aging between 30 and 60. When people are diagnosed with rosacea, it is important for them to start making life changes right away.

Limiting Spicy Food

Women and men who love spicy food may find that tune changes when they have rosacea. Spicy foods can cause a rosacea flare up which can lead to red domed bumps that can lead to serious skin infections. The bumps can even become permanent, especially on or around the nose. This means even those who love spicy food will be more than happy to give it up if it helps soothe their skin.

Avoiding the Sun

Just like spicy food can cause a flare up, so can too much sun. The sun is dangerous for everyone but especially those dealing with rosacea. It dries the skin out too much and the hot temperatures can lead to uncomfortable sweating. The reddening of the face that follows is often painful and lasts for hours. That is why it is important to not only wear a sunscreen with a high SPF, but to find the shade as well.

A Better Life

There is no cure for rosacea but there are things people can do to make their lives a little more comfortable. Of course, avoiding spicy foods and extreme temperature changes are on the list. But there are also creams that work to ease the suffering. The most important thing to do is to take preventative care of the skin so rosacea flare ups are far and few between.
